A well known, publicly traded real estate developer retained RCSG to help manage a complex $100 million dollar mixed use, brownfield redevelopment project in Northern New Jersey. The site is located within a densely populated commercial and residential area along a high-volume transportation corridor and faced significant environmental and transportation/traffic logistical issues.
Permitting and regulatory approvals for this redevelopment needed to be secured through several public agencies/entities including the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, New Jersey Department of Transportation and the New Jersey Meadowlands Commission.
RCSG implemented a comprehensive government and public affairs program on behalf of the client. Tactics included direct lobbying, stakeholder and community engagement, public relations and media/communications strategies.
RCSG was instrumental in navigating complex permitting issues at multiple local and state departments, assisting the client in its ultimately successful application for a new state economic incentive program and the passage of several pieces of legislation to assist in the redevelopment process including creation of specialized liquor licenses. Today, this thriving mixed use development, located in one of New Jersey’s densely populated regions, is widely used as an example of how contaminated Brownfields can by transformed into a local economic engine.
